This “D” license course is open to all applicants who hold a US Soccer “E” license for a minimum of 6 months and who are 16 years of age.

What are the key components and target outcomes of the "D" license course?

• Develop the core coaching competencies necessary to effectively teach the 13-14 year old athlete and team. 
• Understand the characteristics and needs of an athlete in the Intermediate Stage of U.S. Soccer's Athlete Development Model.
• Build on the foundation of knowledge and experience in order to proceed through the sequence of coaching development courses.  
• Teach the Principles of Play in a training environment. (7v7 to 9v9).
• Apply the Principles of Play to functional group roles in a full team system.
• Plan a sequence of training and weekly cycles to complete a season plan.

Information

• The course will last approximately 18 hours each weekend and will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm @ C-PASS on the campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.  All interested coaches can contact Thomas Olivier at thomasmolivier@gmail.com.
• The course will be split into a first “instructional phase” weekend of instruction on July 28-30, a “deliberate practice” phase during which all coaches will go home and work over a 10-week period on their training sessions, and then a “Performance Review” weekend on Nov 10-12 that will include the on-field final exam.
• Coaches must attend all sessions each weekend to obtain license certificate. Cost for the course is $200.00.
